Nugroho Imam Setiawan is an Assistant Professor and the current Head of Undergraduate Degree Program in Geological Engineering Department, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. His field of specialization are igneous and metamorphic petrology. Being a lecturer in Geological Engineering Department, UGM, he teaches various topics in geology, including mineralogy, petrology, geological field methods, and tectonics.
He joined geological fieldwork of metamorphic petrology in Antarctica with Japan Antarctica Research Expedition 58th (JARE-58), during Summer Expedition 2016-2017. He experienced fieldwork in various metamorphic terranes, including Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, Malaysia, and Antarctica. Current research in geology and disaster mitigation have been funded by Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek).
He obtained his undergraduate degree in geological engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada (S.T.), Indonesia, master’s degree in geological engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (M.T.), Indonesia, and received his Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in geology from Kyushu University, Japan. His works has been published in various journals, including Indonesian Journal of Geoscience, Gondwana Research, Antarctic Science, Lithos, Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, Journal of Applied Geology, and Journal of Mineralogical and Petrological Science.
