Abstrak/Abstract Castbike is a series of bicycle frames from A356 aluminum alloy made by casting. One of the designs is a bicycle frame with an I-beam profile. Static tests have been conducted on this frame based on the SNI 1049-2008 and the safety of the frame structure has been confirmed. However, the vibration of the I-beam frame also needs to be considered in relation to the safety and comfort of the riders. In this paper, we investigate the vibration characteristics of the I-beam Castbike frame. We performed simulation modal analysis on a model of the frame to find its natural frequency and mode shapes, and conducted experimental modal analysis by giving impulse excitation on a prototype of the frame to validate the results. We also excited the bicycle frame, including the seat post, saddle, fork and handlebar, using a shaker with sinusoidal signals at one third octave band frequencies from 2.5 to 160 Hz, in order to evaluate the response of the frame with regard to whole body and hand arm …
