Abstrak/Abstract Nowadays, permanent implantation of biomaterials is increasingly used in modern medical practice. Cobalt Chromium (CoCr) alloy becomes one of the most metals choice for implant devices. This study aimed to determine the influence of CoCr L605 induction to blood haemocompatibility. The materials used were CoCr L605 (Remanium Star, Germany), rabbit blood (Oryctolagus cuniculus), human blood. The haemocompatibility determination was performed by hemolysis and platelet aggregation tests. The hemolysis test used rabbit blood. The experiment groups for hemolysis test were CoCr induction of 2.5, 5, 20, 40, and 50% to blood. The measurement was based on ASTM-F075. The platelet aggregation test used volunteer human blood. There were 2 groups of study : group of no alloy induction and group of CoCr L605 induction. The measurement was based on ISO 10993:4. The result revealed CoCr L605 was not hemolytic on concentration of 2.5, 5, and 10%; slightly hemolytic at 20%; and hemolytic at 40 and 80%. The means and standard deviations of platelet aggregation activity groups showed 89.96±17.93 (no induction group), 80.16±22.04 (CoCr L605 induction group). Statistical analysis of hemolysis test by Kruskall-Wallis showed p<0.05, while for platelet aggregation activity by T-test revealed p>0.05. In conclusion, concentrations of CoCr L605 induction to blood influenced hemolytic property. CoCr L605 did not affect platelet aggregation activity. The haemocompatibility of CoCr L605 was accepted until less than 40% alloy induction.
