The concrete filter was designed with a uniform gradation that used the diameter of sand passes 0.2 mm sieve and retained on a 0.1 mm sieve. The sand was fine-grained and relatively hard, the specific gravity of Saturated Surface Dry (SSD) of 2.7337 g/cm3, as a comparative of Silica sand (mass density 2,650 kg/m3) which is a material that qualifies as filter media (Crittenden, et al., 2012).
SSD sand, cement and water are mixed using a ratio of m = 4 and 5 with a water-cement factor = 0.4. The concrete mixture was printed in a 4-inch PVC pipe cylinder with H = 15 cm. The compacting process used a vibrating table with the frequency and duration. The maximum operational capacity of concrete filter installation filters was 5 filters in parallel. The water source was accommodated on Raw Water Tank (RWT), then pumped by Raw Water Pump (RWP) to Constant Head Tank (CHT).
