Abstrak/Abstract One Hundred and sixty five cows that historically had reproductive problems, but have not been vaccinated for BVDV were selected to screen herds for PI-BVDV. To accomplish the objective first the blood samples were individually tested serologically for the occurance of total antibody against BVDV. From 165 samples, 137 were Seropositive (83,03%). Twenty eight seronegative animals were re bled 4 weeks later and blood samples were tested to differentiate between transiently and persistenly infected BVDV using ACE and PCR technique. From 28 seronegative samples, 12 were antigen positive (7,27%) . Based on reseach results it can be concluded that : 1. Reproductive status cows were correlated with occurance of BVDV in the herd and 2 indentification of BVD antibodies and antigens by ELISA, ACE and RT-PCR were properly diagnostic procedures to accurately detect the BVDV infection and presence of persistently infected dairy cattle herds in Central Java , Yogyakarta and East Java
