A Market is a meeting place for two actors. The main activity is the economic aspect. Besides the traditional and modern market, we can also find informal markets in developing countries such as Indonesia. This market form has yet to be well known due to limited literature, especially from architecture. This means that a study of the informal market from the architecture standpoint must continue to determine the presence of this market. The study uses the qualitative method to perform the literature review. The main literature used refers to the informal market sector from an economic view of spatial architecture science. The completion of the study suggests that not all economic theories of the informal sector will influence the spatial shape of an informal market. From the four informal sector aspects, three aspects form the characteristics of the spatial shape of the informal market, i.e. small/limited territory, high accessibility and spatial hybrid. The informal market appears as an unorganised and self-organised unit.
