The duct discontinuity in the H-type cylindrical resonator greatly affects the propagation of acoustic waves in it
which causes a singularity at the end of the smaller cross-sectional area of the resonator. This edge effect singularity
causes an oscillation pattern so that it can reduce the acoustic transmission coefficient. The purpose of this research is to
determine the optimal resonator design and its resonant frequency by considering the effect of duct discontinuity. The
method used in this research is a simulation using the transmission matrix method (TMM) and optimization using genetic
algorithm (GA). The results obtained in this study are the length of the buffer (????????????????) = 48.8 mm, the length of the resonator
(????????????????) = 102.5 mm, the radius of the buffer (????????????????) = 9.2 mm, and the radius of the resonator (????????????????) = 2.9 mm, and the
resonant frequency value is f = 1610.6 Hz.
