We had been collecting 1,209 isolates of Lysinibacillus sphaericus-like bacteria using a selective
media from 418 soil samples obtained from different places in Indonesia. These isolates were
screened against Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes aegypti larvae to select pathogenic strains
to the mosquitoes. Five isolates that consistently produce a high mortality were chosen for the
pathogenicity test. These isolates are more or at least, similarly pathogenic comparable to the
1593 isolates used as a standard. Based on SDS-PAGE analysis, all of these five isolates produce
Binary toxins.
