Joint estimation of direction of arrival (DoA) and
frequency or power spectral density (PSD) has been a
popular research topic with regards to wideband power
spectrum sensing applications. With the emergence of
compressive sampling (CS) which is originally designed for
time-frequency domain, the concept of sparse sensing
(inspired by CS theory) is applied to array processing
applications in order to reduce the number of antennas in
the array and the connected receiver devices. Some methods
for PSD, frequency, and DoA estimation might include some
basic algorithms such as least-squares (LS), MUSIC, and
ESPRIT and a particular array antenna configuration that
might use or be built on top of fundamental topologies such
as uniform linear array (ULA) or uniform rectangular
array (URA). This paper provides a review on the existing
works in the field of CS as well as PSD, frequency, and
DOA estimation, and elaborates the connection between the
aforementioned topics. This review has been a basis on our
research in the field of joint DoA and PSD estimation based
on compressive samples. |
