Abstrak/Abstract Microbubble generator represents an aeration technology that is adept at producing micron-sized bubbles. Several researchers have investigated the development of the microbubble generator. However, the swirl-type microbubble generator has its advantages over other types, because it effectively produces smaller bubbles. This method has experienced great development in recent years due to its simple construction, facilitating an easier and more efficient manufacturing process for the production of micron-sized bubbles. Therefore, this article reviews important aspects of vortex-type microbubble generators, including the definition of microbubbles, microbubble generation methods, generator performance, numerical methods relevant to vortex-type microbubble generators, and applications of microbubbles.
