This research aimed to investigate the relationship between blood chemical profile
and body score condition of Saanen Crossbred does. The blood samples were taken from 15 does
meeting the criteria as follows: having an age of 3 to 4 years, having a normal estrous cycle,
giving birth once at minimum, and having a body score condition of 2 to 3.9. The blood was
taken at 06.00 a.m. before feeding by injecting a venoject to vena jugularis to take the blood at a
time. Further, the sample was analyzed its blood urea nitrogen (BUN) level with the Berthelotreaction method, then its blood cholesterol with cholesterol oxidase-peroxidase aminoantipyrine
phenol (CHOD-PAP) method, and blood protein with photometric bromcresol green method.
The data were analyzed by applying a correlation test, resulting in a correlation coefficient
between body score condition 2 to 2,9 and blood biochemical profile (BUN, blood cholesterol,
blood protein) were -0,229, -0,793, and -0,415 respectively. The significance level of these
groups: 0,586, 0,019, and 0,307 respectively. The correlation coefficient at body condition score
of 3 to 3.9 were 0,443, -0,345, and -0,326 respectively. The significance level of these groups:
0,320, 0,448, and 0,476 respectively. According to these results, there was a negative relationship
between the body condition score and the blood cholesterol of those with a body condition score
of 2 to 2.9. |
