The aims of this research are to understand Kampong Kasongan outdoor space characteristic before and
after May 26lh Earthquake, to find out physical and non-physical changes caused by earthquake, and to know
outdoor space influential changing factors. The research methods are observation, interview and behavioural
mapping, place-centered map. The research results are: new houses are larger than before Earthquake,
narrowed outdoor space. Outdoor space in irregular shape was not changing. Enclosure was strengthened.
Outdoor space atmosphere was warm with its messy space elements. The amount of space forming element
was increasing, such as wooden board, bamboo, hard floors and terraces. There are housing materials and
min as new element. Activity types are not changing, but encourage people to adapt, such as increasing
activity in private yard, space utilization changing (more private or public), and small road route changing.
The research conclusions are: outdoor space physical changing caused by Earthquake are size (narrower),
enclosure (stronger), type and amount of space elements (increasing). Outdoor space non-physical changing
caused by Earthquake are increasing activity, small road route changing, workshop expansion, and space
utilization changing. Physical influential changing factors are space element, geographical and shaping space
factor. Non-physical influential changing factor are economical, social and few psychological facto |
