Abstract. This study aims to determine the role of authentic leadership from lectures'
perspectives to their faculty leader on work engagement with self-efficacy in performing tridharma perguruan tinggi as mediator. The data was taken by using survey method with distributing scales consisting of self-efficacy, authentic leadership and work engagement scales. Subjects are lectures of Faculty X University Y with minimum experience term are 2 years (N=40). Final data will be analyzed using regression. The results of the study support JDR-Model which in this case are the role of self-efficacy as predictors for work engagement. The result also showed that the perception of authentic leadership is not correlated with work engagement so that self-efficacy did not work as mediator in the relationship between perception of authentic leadership with work engagement. However, self-efficacy proven for
being abel to be predictor and positively associated to work engagement with 11,6% effective contribution. This means lecturer's work engagement as the participant in this study wasn't influenced by their faculty leader' authentic leadership instead internally by self-efficacy. Pride as a lecturer becoming an internal drive so that their work engagement does not affected too much by external factors.
