Abstract
Petung Bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper) with mechanical properties that can be aligned with wood is still very
vulnerable to destructive organisms. This study aims to determine the physical properties, mechanical properties,
damage patterns of Petung laminated bamboo after mechanical testing and effective preservation methods
related to preservative retention. The study refers to the pada Standar Nasional Indonesia and American Standard
Testing and Material by testing the retention of preservation, physical properties (moisture content and density)
as well as the mechanical properties of laminated bamboo (adhesive shear strength and flexural test) until the
test material reaches a maximum load (failure). The test results were then compared between bamboo before
preserved with bamboo after being preserved with those analyzed statistically. The results showed that the
damage pattern of laminated bamboo beams had horizontal shear damage on the adhesive line (delamination).
The results of the statistical analysis showed that the preservation treatment had no significant effect on the
decrease in adhesive shear strength.
