This paper tries to explore the role of OpenStreetMap and JAVA OpenStreetMap editor to function as a system for governing and sharing community community-based geospatial information. OpenStreetMap (OSM) as a new initiative for open and free source of worldwide geos patial i nformation has become more popular as a tool to facilitate public participatory mapping. However, its role for community community-based geospatial information governance remains unclear. Therefore, evaluation and analysis have been conducted by utilizing OSM to maintain and store geospatial data which was collected by using GPS, walking papers, and online on on-screen digitizing based on Bing maps. OSM and JOSM capabilities were explored to better understand their functions in managing and sharing geospatial information. The res ults show that OSM together with JOSM have shown good capability to function as community community-based geospatial information governance. However, there are several issues related to data completeness as well as data accuracy problems which remain unsolved. |
