This study explores the narrative transformation of Hikayat Alfu Lailah wa Lailah as a migratory
artifact from the Arab world to Europe, undergoing mythological, imaginative, and factual
transfigurations through processes of translation and cross-cultural reception. The urgency of this
inquiry lies in the critical need to reinterpret classical Eastern texts as active epistemic subjects
within global literary studies. Employing a qualitative design, the research adopts a narrative
cultural approach and close reading analysis, focusing on the tales of Shahrazad and “The
Merchant and the Ifrit.” Data were collected from textual sources and historical reception
references and analyzed through Carl Thompson’s symbolic myth theory and cultural reception
theory. The findings reveal that mythic symbols and narrative structures function as frameworks
for heroic journeys, serving as instruments of cultural diplomacy, while the character of Shahrazad
emerges as a figure of social transformation within colonial patriarchy. This study contributes to
the theoretical development of “cultural diplomacy narrative” and expands the discourse of literary
decolonization. Its global implications include the epistemological repositioning of classical
Arabic texts in world literature and the reinforcement of multicultural literacy models within
international humanities education
