Abstrak/Abstract Naturaly fish has preference of specific substrate and exhibit counter or follow water current direction in its habitat. The aim of the research is to examine R. lateristriata specific preference of substrate and current as part of biomodelling to mimic the migration tendency of wader pari fish. The works were based on substrate variation and water variable of current direction. It is very important to understand the preference of wader pari fish about substrate and water current direction. Aquariums were designed to link each other, for possible free movement of fish between both of aquarium. The substrates were sand, gravel, mud and palm fiber. The one side aquarium was filed with a kind of substrate while the other side filled with oxygenated water without substrate. Each aquarium that filled with substrate was given 10 fish, data measured for migrated fish from or to substrate side. The water current treatment was done in same setup, except that there was no substrate. The number of waders pari fish that migrated from and to water current were recorded and presented in histogram. The result showed that, wader pari fish preferred for sand substrate and also showed counter current of migration direction
