Abstrak/Abstract Organic farming provides many benefits. It can improve soil fertility such as carbon fraction. Carbon fraction is one of soil characteristics parameterwhich can be used as soil chemistry indicator. The objective of the study was to observe the influence of organic and conventional management system of soils on soil carbon distribution. Soil samples were taken from Kebonagung, Imogiri andKalitirto,Berbah. The results showed that there was significant change of soil carbon fraction and soil chemical properties in both organic and conventional management system. Application of organic farming systems was able to effect on carbon fraction. It was showed by increasing of humic acid, fulvic acid, C-POM (C-particulate organic matter), C-BMT (C-biomass soil microorganism), water-soluble carbon and C- mineralization. The results also showed that organic farming can improve soil chemical properties of paddy field including organic carbon, Cation Exchange Capacity, and total Nitrogen.
