Background: Nursing error ni drug administration includes error ni identifying patients, determining lypes uf drugs, dosage calculation, method of drug delivery, timing ni drug dispensing identifying drugs that can cause allergy or contradictory drug combination that may lead to death.
Objective: To identify the incidence of nursing error ni drug administration at inpatient ward of a hospital and find on the types of nursing errors that occurred.
Method: This study used a cross sectional design. The evaluation of nursing error was taken using the structured observational method. The subject of the study was drug dispensing undertaken by nurses. Nursing error was presented ni the unit of per 1000 nursing hour work.
Result: There were 1 drug dispensing activities comprising 34 oral drug dispensing, 74 iniected drug dispensing, 3 topical drug dispensing and no inhalation drug dispensing.
There were 55.8 nursing errors per month or 30.1 per 1000 nursing hour work. Conclusion: The incidence of nursing error was as much as 55.8 per month or 30.1 per 1000 nursing hour work. Nursing error occurred in dosage (30.8%) and time of drug
dispensing (69.2%).
