Vegetation and altitude are include on soil forming factors. The difference between
vegetation and altitude can affect the nature of the soil formed. This research aimed to know
the characterization of the chemical properties of soil under different vegetation at various
heights in Girirejo, Imogiri, Bantul. Sampling were done with the opening of the mini pit.
Minipit observations performed include depth, layer, distribution of roots, the colour of soil,
structure, consistency, and texture of soil. Chemical properties of the soil tested included
pH H2O and pH KCl, cation exchange capacity, organic carbon, total nitrogen, available
phosphorus, available potassium, and texture analysis. The vegetation that used in this
research were acacia, teak and pine. Soil under acacia vegetation has the highest organic
carbon, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, and available potassium. Soil under teak
vegetation has the highest a pH KCl. Places in the higher regions has organic carbon, total
Nitrogen, and available potassium are higher than low areas, but has a lower pH KCl and
available phosphorus content |
