Southern root-knot nematode (SRKN), Meloidogyne incognita causes serious damage in coffee roots, leading to significant yield losses,
requiring effective biocontrol agents such as actinomycetes. The objective of this study was to obtain actinomycetes isolates that have the potentials to control SRKN of coffee. Among the 39 actinomycete isolates from rhizosphere soil of coffee plantations, five isolates (P2A01, K1B1, P4A04, H106 and H203) were selected based on their high potentials for SRKN biocontrol. Their spore suspensions inhibited egg hatching significantly higher in K1B1 and P2A01 than in H106, H203 and P4A04) and increased significantly juvenile mortality with similar degrees among the isolates, compared to the non-treatment controls. Ethyl acetate extracts from K1B1 showed inhibited egg hatching completely. Therefore, K1B1 and H203 become the most promising isolates as the agents of nematodes biocontrol. According to identification by using 16S rRNA molecular marker, these five isolates belong to species of Streptomyces.
