Spatial interaction is movement of goods, information, people, and idea between one place and other places. Interaction between places could happen in anywhere through human itself and their activities in space. One of the unique areas where contained spatial interaction is Islamic boarding school. Spatial interaction in that area can reflect the uniqueness of area spatial interaction in Indonesia. As we called Yogyakarta as a student city, Yogyakarta has various types of education. One of those is Islamic boarding school education. This study is conducted in Al Munawwir Krapyak Islamic Boarding School district
(Pondok Pesantren), in Yogyakarta urban fringe area. The purpose of this study is to examine that islamic boarding school’s spatial interaction and those are related to influential factors. This study used a grounded research method with inductive-qualitative approach. This approach was done by processing units of information obtained in the field and then coding, categorization and conceptualization of information. This study employed single observed object, Al Munawwir Krapyak Islamic Boarding School and related entities. Based on this research, it was found that spatial interaction that occurs in Al Munawwir Krapyak Islamic Boarding School district is a traditional-religious spatial interaction in urban fringe. The most prominent principle which forms the interactions in this research is the relationship between supply and demand which is reflected in buying and selling, social, education and religious activities. The rules of interaction that in accordance with the community values and religious laws of Islam are the new findings related to the theory of spatial interaction. Other findings which influenced to spatial interaction are location of area in urban structure and media communication to interact. |
