this research is aimed to investigate depression measurement items that affect the
differential item functio:zing (DIF). Moreover, the discrimination parameters DIF and item location
parameter DIF are implemented. Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) is analyzed in Indonesian
version. The research finding shows that several items are infected by DIF. Participants are
adolescents who represent four school districts in Yogyakarta (N = 3183). Data is analyzed using
DIF-test through response theory modeling. Later, the research finding also shows that some CDI
items are affected by DIF based on sex, both on the discrimination parameters (10 items) and the items
location parameter (7 items). Thus, the findings of this study can serve as guidelines to assess more
specific symptoms of adolescent depression based on sex.
