A Control chart, as the statistical process control (SPC), has been widely used in engineered and manufactured product industries. High quality products can be sustained while the production process is stable statistically to begin with. Whereas, the process adjustment will only be made at a later point when the process is deemed to be out of control.
The chart is quite useful to predict condition of the process, therefore resetting/adjustment to the process can be employed before it is getting worst (out of control). A situation that often arises is when the process is subject to a "slow trend"; such as equipment failure and power impairment.
The aim of the research is to design a new method as a predictive quality control tool which accommodates slow trend process. Provided that, an integrated monitoring (SPC) and adjustment approach (EPC) can be considered. The result is an integration formula which is then implemented to a specified industry for testing.
Result of the research shows that integrated SPC method could be used either to monitor a process or to adjust a process, so this will minimize the occurrence of defective products
