Purpose
This study was conducted to explore Aedes aegypti susceptibility status in endemic area and its relation with insecticide use.
Method
Data from survey 240 households in four villages, Purbalingga Lor, Kembaran Kulo, Penaruban and Sempor Lor. Every household was given ovitrap and family members also were interviewed by questionnaire.
Findings
This study found Aedes aegypti in Purbalingga Lor, Penaruban and Sempor Lor was resistant, but in Kembaran Kulo still tolerant with cypermethrin 0.05%. Variables related to Aedes aegypti susceptibility status were negative attitude of respondents with aPR of 0.55 (95% CI 0.38-0.81), p value 0.002 and insecticide use with aPR of 1.22 (95% CI 1.04-1.43), p value 0.013.
Conclusion
This study concluded inappropriate use of insecticide makes Aedes aegypti susceptibility status increasing. Households needed education about procedure of insecticide use for more effective to eliminate Aedes Aegypti. |
