ABSTRACTThe reported activities in here are purposed to develop the community through empowerment programme. Within all purposes, the main tittle of this programme is “Initiating Sustainable Development Model of Product Marketing to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Kulon Progo District”. This programme is related to the primary vision of the Local Government of Kulon Progo District to alleviate poverty in the area, which is called “Bela Beli Kulon Progo”. Kulon Progo District is quiet famous of its handcraft product and traditional food, of which many MSMEs are working on those products. They, however, still find it difficult to raise up their production scale because of its limitation in networking and cooperation with other parts of business. In accordance to the problem mentioned above, this activity will be mostly on the area of marketing and networking development. We try to connect the MSMEs and the local government to hold a discussion and solving the problems. The MSMEs also take a participation in the handcraft and food expos for three methods. The lists of the activities are as follow:a.Workshop and training on marketing strategy; This activity took twice within period of activity, first in 8th June 2015 and second in 17th June 2015 which both take place in Kulon Progo Local Government Building. It is also purposed to create a cooperation among the institutions in the local government in order to have a wider market for the local products. The participants of this workshop and training are the MSME’s members (including the owner of hotel, restaurant and shop), cooperatives and MSMEs local government agency, and Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports local government agency.b.Engaging the MSMEs to the traditional handcraft and food expo held by student. It has been done three times: 18th March 2015, 7th June 2015 and 3-4th October 2015. This event is supported by the Young Entrepreneur Community of Vocational School of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada.c.The assistance programme in product marketing is conducted in an informal meeting with MSMEs.The conclusion of this programme is that the MSMEs have a wider network with other parts of business enterprise in Kulon Progo District and also having broaden knowledge in product marketing. It is expected that the MSMEs can be one of the main spearhead of the local government in poverty alleviation. Moreover, the higher education institution will also help the development of the MSMEs, especially in networking and marketing. Another agenda to be done in the near future is that of the training and implementation of online marketing. |
