Abstrak/Abstract Opportunistic infections in HIV/AIDS is the leading cause of patient’s death in up to 90%. The objectives of this study were to describe pattern of opportunistic infections and appropriateness its therapy according the Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Infected Adults and Adolescents 2008 that was recommended by CDC/NIH/HIVMA/IDSA and the National Guidelines of Tuberculosis Treatment 2006 by the Indonesian Ministry of Health. This study was a non-experimental study. The data was taken retrospectively from 74 outpatients (169 cases) and 79 inpatients (92 cases) who fulfilled the inclusion criteria such as adult, have complete medical records includes identity, diagnosis, and opportunistic infection therapy. These data was analyzed descriptively. The result of study shows that there were 34 pulmonary tuberculosis outpatients (45,95%) and 46 inpatient (56,90%); 26 oral candidiasis outpatients (35,14%) and 46 inpatients (58,20%); 15 hepatitis oupatients (20,27%) and 21 inpatient (26,5%); 11 PCP outpatients (14,86%) and 11 (13,9%) inpatients; 4 herpes zoster outpatients (4,05%) and 3 inpatient (3,8%); 3 pneumonia outpatient (4,05%) and 26 inpatients (32,9%), 3 chronic diarrhea outpatients (4,05%) and 6 inpatients (7,6 %); 2 varicella zoster outpatients (2,70%) and 3 inpatients (3,8%), 2 toxoplasma cerebral outpatients (2,70%) and 8 (10,1%); 1 herpes simplex outpatient (1,35%) and 3 inpatient (3,8%). Prophylaxis therapy was found on 45 patients (60,81%), 43 patients with cotrimoxazole (58,11%) and 15 patients with fluconazole (20,27%). Based on the guidelines, there’s 80,47% appropriate cases of the use of antiinfections. There are 27 cases of dose too high (17,42%). Dose too low was found in 9 antiinfection uses (5,81%.) Five major opportunistic infections are tuberculosis, oral candidiasis, hepatitis, pneumonia and sepsis. More than 80% usage of anti-infective appropriate according the guidelines.
