Abstrak/Abstract This article aims to analyse the struggle of ideologies that is reflected to the construction of identities among the French language users in Indonesia. How the Indonesian’s user of French with their ideologies adapt or adopt the French language and culture. And why there are the different pattern of struggle or model of adaptation to the same French language and culture? In order to look for answers to this questions we will use the critical approach in sociolinguistic domain to have a better understanding and a comprehensive answer. The informants of this research are the French language users at the higher education in several Indonesian institutions. They have been working with French language and culture for at least two years. The research tend to show that there are three models of adaptation or adoption to the French language and culture among the French users in Indonesia. The first group adopt completely all aspect of French culture including the pattern of consumption and style. The second group tend to select and accept only the good aspect according to their value. And the last group show that they reject many aspect of French culture and language.
