Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), which has been implemented by the government of Barito Kuala
Regency, is expected to improve the welfare of farmers by allowing for delayed sale in order to get
better prices. The objective of this study is to determine the factors that influence farmers to join the
WRS. This study was a descriptive analysis that also involved binary logistic regression analysis. The
results showed that some factors positively influence farmers to participate in the WRS are the
amount of farming experience, access to capital experience, the experience of sales delays, arable
land area, the selling price of grain, agricultural extension, and land tenure. Family size and the
amount of food consumption negatively affect farmers to follow the WRS. Formal education and
participation in farmer groups is a factor that does not affect farmers to participate in the WRS. This
study recommends reducing rice consumption through a food diversification program to increase
farmer’s grain stock, increase agricultural extension to increase farmer productivity, and involve
agricultural extension agents in the activity of disseminating the WRS.
