Bakuchiol is a natural compound that has been used as an alternative raw material to replace retinol in cosmetic preparations. This is because the properties of bakuchiol and its derivatives have better safety and do not cause side effects compared to retinol and its derivatives. Bakuchiol compounds have been shown to have the same biological activity as retinol and its derivatives despite having different structures. However, the exploration of native Indonesian plants as a source of bakuchiol is still low, so there is still wide room to explore various native Indonesian plants as a source of bakuchiol compounds for anti-aging cosmetic raw materials in Indonesia. This reason is the background for researchers to explore Indonesian plants that are thought to contain bakuchiol compounds with a taxonomic approach that is close to the family and species of plants that have been proven to produce bakuchiol compounds. In the review, researchers determined plants based on proximity to the Fabaceae family in Indonesia.
