Both land utilization and land allocation require sistematicaly and rotional planning in order to ensure
sustainable land resource. Land system can be considered as basic informotionfor land evaluation process
at recoinsisance level with scla of 250,000. In this study, land system informasi was selected on the basis
of data availablefor Central Kalimantan province. Howeveti it should be supported by other relevqnt data
such as soil and climate map* Procedure of land capability evaluaionwas used in this study in order to
evaluate both potenqt and classify land units based on several criteriq qs limitingfaaor Application ofGIS
technologt was also ernployedfor mapping process and spatial analysis to result of land evaluation. The
result of land evaluation showed that Central Kalimantan prwince is divided into six capability classes
i.e class II, ill, ry W, WL and VIIL Thus, there several limitingfactors that hwe beenfound irwolving
slope, drainage, floodinghazard, peqt depth, and sandy soil. Onthe basis of land capability map, the result
of spatial analysis showed that land nailability for agriculture cwers qlmost 9.571.231 Ha (61,94%").
Appropriate programs and policy cqn then be formulated according to specific to location in order to
support the acceleration ofagricultural development at regional province. |
