The rising demand for animal protein necessitates increased livestock production. Feed contributes the most significant portion to farm operational costs. Utilizing fermented complete feed can help optimize farm productivity. The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM actively promotes livestock productivity through a Community Service Program based on the Application of Appropriate Technology (TTG), focusing on fermented complete feed techniques. This community service aims to improve farmers' capacity in producing fermented feed by comparing various type of silo. The Karya Manunggal livestock group in Sleman, which faces challenges in maintaining quality and sustainable feed supply, was chosen as the program's partner. Four type of silo were tested: bunker silos, plastic drums, plastic bags, and jumbo bags, to identify the most effective medium for producing high-quality fermented feed. The results indicated that drum silos and plastic bags produced feed with better physical quality, aroma, pH levels, and palatability than the other silo. The drum silo emerged as the best choice for maintaining fermentation quality, while the jumbo bag demonstrated the highest cost efficiency. This program has successfully provided practical solutions for farmers to select the appropriate silo tailored to their local needs and conditions. Through this program, it is hoped that farmers' productivity and welfare will improve by employing effective fermentation technology.
