Radioactive material smuggling incidents in 2020 was proved that the nuclear security threat in Indonesia is real [1]. It also showed that Indonesian police and security officers’ knowledge in nuclear security must be improved continuously. In response, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia’s Nuclear Engineering Program composed a three-day training program for empowering the role of local police, National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS), and National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) who are responsible for handling nuclear security incident. The involvement of BASARNAS in this training was a response to their request in 2020 [2]. The objective of the training was to refresh their capabilities in dealing with nuclear security issues after the absence of training due to the Covid pandemic in 2020-2021. Based on our self-evaluation, the lessons were divided into 10 sessions that eliminated the previous training’s Nuclear Security in Transportation material [1] as shown in Table 1. The training materials were delivered through traditional teaching, table-top exercises, exercises, and discussion. Due to the health protocol, the number of participants and time were also limited. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to assess the trainee’s knowledge improvement and the benefits they feel. At the end of the event, the Nuclear Security Pocketbook was given to the trainees in addition to the training modules. |
