The presence of notch in engineering components influences mechanical properties of material. Notch is one source of stress concentration, which reduces material strength. In this paper, the Von mises stress, safety factor, and displacement of different geometry of notched specimens has been studied. Simulation based analysis was applied on 10 specimens contain trapezoidal shaped notch made of SPCC material with variation in angle of the notch geometry under tension loading. The tension testing was carried out by following ASTM E8M guidelines and applied for the basic dimension of specimens. The results were compared in order to determine load behavior of notched specimens related to angle presented in the notch geometry. Surprisingly, the data of Von mises stress and safety factor gain from increasing angle in trapezoidal notch indicate some fluctuations, and the causes were then discussed. Stress distribution during tension loading is concentrated on the sharp area around notch-tip, so the crack can be triggered.
