The eHEALS is a reliable self-report tool to assess people’s eHealth literacy skills for a wide range
of populations and contexts. This study aimed to explore the eHealth literacy level and its associated
factors among the rural population in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, using eHEALS. A total of 1540
respondents participated in this cross-sectional study. The association between eHealth literacy skills
and sociodemographic characteristics was examined using multivariable logistic regression.
Significance was obtained at p < 0.05 and 95% CI. The results found that being under 35 year-old
OR = 1.34, 95% CI = 1.03-1.75, being male OR = 1.53, 95% CI = 1.08-1.87, and having finished
senior high school OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.10-2.02, and university OR = 2.42, 95% CI = 1.32-2.89,
were the predictors significantly associated with higher level of eHealth literacy. Future research is
required to further test the questionnaire to reach various target populations.
