The development of renewable energy is the main goal to reduce the use of fossil energy. This will have an impact on reducing environmental pollution. Ocean current is one of renewable energy resources that can develop optimally. That is because the potential of ocean currents is very large especially in Indonesia. The characteristics of ocean currents have high current densities, so the power generated will large. Turbines in a deep ocean current generator do not need land and its easy to predict. The challenges in developing an ocean deep current power plant is that it has very low current speed and it must have low maintenance. The permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) can selected. The characteristics of PMSG have a high enough efficiency and can be operated at low speeds with a number of magnetic pole. In this paper, a proposed methode to design a low speed PSMG with 1.5kW of power is developed. The focus parameters are efficiency, power factor, cogging torque, and harmonic. While the parameters of the cooling system, mechanical pressure, etc. are ignored. PMSG design uses Ansys Maxwell software. The final result is obtained PMSG power capacity of 1.5 kW with 20 poles, 30 slots. PMSG rotational speed reaches 300rpm with an efficiency of 89 %. While cogging torque and harmonic distortion is low 5.63e-12 Nm and 3.06%. |
