Composites are materials made from two or more materials that produce different chemical and physical properties from constituent materials. Several methods can be used to make these materials, one of which is filament winding method. This method is one of the oldest methods that have advantages, such as working efficiently and automatically. The problem that arises when making a new filament winding machine is the need for optimization to improve the quality of the resulting product. Some of these parameters are the rotational speed of the mandrel, the calibration of the winding pattern, and the deflection of the mandrel shaft used. Therefore, in this study, a stress analysis was carried out on the mandrel shaft, which was used to determine the stress and deflection that occurred as well as the safety factor value of the design. The highest value of von Mises stress is 217.41 MPa with a force loading of 200 N. This load produces the lowest factor of safety value of 2.37. Not only that, but this research also makes a prototype of a filament winding machine that is printed using a 3D printing machine with a size ratio of 1:2 compared to the original size. |
