Thisstudyinvestigatestheimpactofvariouschlorine(Cl)contentratiosonthedegradationof304stainlesssteel
duringco-combustionof coalwithsolidrecoveredfuel (SRF)at acombustiontemperatureof1250◦C.The
researchspecificallyfocusesonthecorrosionpotentialat550◦C,whichrepresentsthetemperatureinthesu
perheaterareaofapowerplant.High-temperaturecorrosionexperimentsareconductedinalaboratory-scale
droptube furnacetoobserve initial corrosionduringcombustion.Analyses includevisual examination,min
eralanalysis,microstructure-basedmetalanalysis,andcorrosionratedetermination.Theresultsshowsignificant
degradationatClcontentshigherthan0.09wt%.Theusualcarbideformationat thegrainboundaries in304
stainless-steeldoesnotoccur intheshort-termtests,asindicatedbyCrcontentremainingabove12%andCl
content less than0.06wt%. Inaddition,material degradation isdue totheCl reactingwithalkali content,
damagingtheoxidelayerandcausingpitsinthecross-sectionareaoftheprobematerial.Thisresearchprovides
insightsintothecriticalroleofCl inmetaldegradationandidentifiestheoptimumClamountsuitableforcoal
blendinginpowerplants |
