Abstrak/Abstract Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is still spreading today in many countries. As an important diagnostic tool for detecting respiratory infections, the demand for nasopharyngeal swabs will continue to increase. In this study, we present the defectiveness in the manufacturing process of nasopharyngeal swabs using bio-based resin PLA. The open association source nasopharyngeal swab design was printed using SLA 3D printer. We focus on the influence of ultraviolet (UV) power and normal exposure time on the quality of nasopharyngeal swabs. The study was conducted with seven different variations of UV power and normal exposure time. The best printing process parameter for manufacturing the nasopharyngeal swabs in this study are UV power of 30%, normal exposure time of 5 s, layer thickness of 0.1 mm, and bottom exposure time of 40 s. The result shows that UV power and normal exposure time affect the quality of nasopharyngeal swabs printed. The major defectiveness of nasopharyngeal swabs using a stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer is the nasopharyngeal swabs can’t be printed completely, the swab head becomes irregular, and the breaking point can’t form completely. The dimension error of the nasopharyngeal swab in length is smaller than the error in diameter.
