Semesta Tari community exist with a focus on the creativity of children aged 2-14 years
in the process and performance of the children’s dance with environmental stimuli.
Environment here is a site with a specific social and cultural context. The elaboration of
dialectical interactions between performers and their arenas is seen from a site-specific
performance framework. Their presence is based on the development of the current
discourse that is being built as a high barrier between the pattern of art institutions and
art education institutions with all the construction agreements. Research on the praxis of
Semesta Tari is looking at the self-conscientization, the attachment of art studies to bodily
experiences, interaction, and spatial intervention as well as independent art education and
presentation. This research will explore the fragment of site-specific performance principles
which are used by Semesta Tari as a development of its method. The formulation will be
discussed using Critical Pedagogy by Paulo Freire. Participatory action research is used as
a methodology because the researcher becomes part of the material object. This study
found that there was an effort to raise awareness or conscientization on the site-specific
performance of Semesta Tari. The awareness effort in question is the freedom to answer
back what individuals ask consciously regarding the construction of agreements through or
with art.
