The situation after post-reformation era has brought the positive and negative
impacts. Positive impacts shown on the political openness, stable macroeconomic
conditions, and relatively good national security. While it is negative in terms of poor
political law & legislation, economic disparities, unclear educational politics, and the
absence of national cultural strategies. This study therefore obtains its context,
which identifies identity and citizenship in the virtual world. This research analyzes
the data using the philosophical hermeneutics method. Firstly, collect the data by
inventorize the bibliography data in the form of writings and also books about
national education, and articles related to the research object. Secondly, identify the
values of nationalism that might be implied in the view of civic education teachers.
And at last, analyze the data by doing the philosophical reflection to find a strategy to
character development and nation character through education. The result of this
research could be described as follows: 1) the development of science and
technology in this present era is not unstoppable anymore. Globalization becomes an
absolute thing. Globalizations leave an impact through various media. The 'distant'
issues become 'close', 'world is folded in grip'. It implies to the openness of some
sensitive issues which have the potential to disturb the harmony of the nation; 2) the
reading on some social trends is the occurance of social fragmentation as a result of
modernity. This makes loss of the legitimacy center, and the direction of social
change becomes 'unreadable' and 'uncontrollable'. The direction of information and
communication technology has finally created new patterns of relationship which do
not suppert the social integration. Social media thus becomes unifying but at the
same time separating. |
