Malioboro is one of the main tourism destinations in Yogyakarta, which had also been established as a shopping street and a cultural heritage by the local government. Therefore, this area is always crowded by people and vehicles. However, there is an evident lack of vegetation in Malioboro, and the buildings in the area currently use materials with low albedo level, which caused Malioboro area to be thermally uncomfortable. To improve the visual and thermal quality of Malioboro, the local government launched Malioboro Grand Design 2020 initiative. This paper aims to analyze the differences between the thermal condition of Malioboro pedestrian ways before and after implementation of Malioboro Grand Design 2020. Methods used in this research included on-site observation to get the existing data of Malioboro area and simulation by using Ladybug Sunhour Analysis. The simulation result showed that Malioboro area is more thermally comfortable after the implementation of the Grand Design. |
