Rinjani Volcano is an active volcano on
the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara in a volcanic arc
system, the Lesser Sunda Island. This active volcano last erupted
in 2010 with the eruption of VEI scale 2. This volcano, was
monitored by means as simple as using a single component
seismometers and analog visual observation using binoculars so it
is not optimal to monitor and study the characteristics and
hazards of volcanic eruptions. In this study, we will analyze
quantitatively from seismic activity in the long-term catalog of
earthquakes from the USGS NEIC by mapping the spatial
distribution magnitude frequency of earthquakes and seismicity
rate change. The purpose of this study was to describe the
pattern of the regional characteristic of seismicity and volcanic
activity. The results of this study are expected to be used as the
base of the Rinjani volcano monitoring in order to mitigate the
risk of volcanic hazards in the future.
