Rhynchophorus vulneratus and Oryctes rhinoceros are pests that attack
coconut plants in Indonesia. Information on the abundance of both pests is needed
to support Integrated Pest Management in an area, including the campus area of
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This research aims to study the abundance of R.
vulneratus and O. rhinoceros in various habitats in the Gadjah Mada University
Campus Area. The research was conducted at five points in the UGM campus area,
Yogyakarta. Information on sex ratio was also studied in this research. R. vulneratus
and O. rhinoceros were captured by setting aggregation pheromone traps hung on
coconut plants at a height of 1.7 m above ground level. The study was conducted
for one month at the beginning of the dry season. The abundance of R. vulneratus
and O. rhinoceros was analyzed using the relative abundance formula. The results
showed a higher abundance of O. rhinoceros than R. vulneratus. The study also
showed that the sex ratio showed the dominance of females in R. vulneratus and O.
rhinoceros
