State of Charge (SoC) plays an important role in
giving accuracy in Battery Management System (BMS). The
exact value of SoC can keep the batteries safe from various dan-
gerous conditions, such as over-charging and over-discharging.
Unfortunately, SoC value can not be measured directly. Various
estimation methods have been used to get its value with one of
the most widely used methods of filter algorithms. This method
is one of the widely used in estimating battery SoC since it can
provide excellent accuracy results due to the high computational
cost. However, the high computation which resulting in more
accurate SoC value has an effect on slow convergence time. In
some cases, it could not even reach the convergence. To overcome
this problem, modifying the filter algorithm by combining other
methods and modifying the algorithm has been proposed and
used in previous studies. This paper summarizes the use of
adaptive filter algorithms and its modification on battery SoC
estimation. Major challenges and opportunities for future works
are concluded based on the review.
