Heritage Conservation is Management of Change. Continuity admits change is the central concept of conservation, a notion that differs from preservation. Consequently, this means that the changes which taken place are not drastic in nature, it consistently preserves previous naturally or through selective choices. Conservation is dynamic and evolutive.
For millennia, migration, voyages of seafarers’, as well as trade networks of diverse commodities had linked our continents. Considering identity of the glory archipelago heritage in South East Asia is not only monuments and tangible heritage, but total environment which consist from tangible-intangible, natural into cultural landscape heritage, we can examine the current condition. However, we loss a lot on our identity. How can we change the world in respecting & reviving natural environment, cultural heritage including traditional knowledge.
This presentation highlights:
1) Lesson learnt from the Silk Roads (UNESCO, 2014): the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan Corridor, and Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine and its Cultural Landscape.
2) Initiatives in Indonesia on Heritage Activists Initiatives (JPPI, BPPI), Local & National Government Initiatives, and Communities Initiatives: Sunda Kelapa Heritage Society,
