Abstrak/Abstract This lecture started from the lesson learnt of what Indonesia looking for on Indonesian Heritage and Indonesian heritage conservation since 1990s. Stated, the first time, in the Charter of Indonesian Heritage Conservation 2003, the word saujana, meaning, “as far as you can see,'' has been used in translating the term “cultural landscape”. Cultural landscape is a manifestation of the interaction between humans and the natural environment that is reflected in space and time (UNESCO, 1992). Some heritage saujana cases are explored such as Borobudur in Central Java and Banda Islands in Molucos. The Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) approaches has been explained in the case of Cultural and Natural Mapping of Yogyakarta, Considering the HUL approach in action plan (New Life for Historic Cities, UNESCO, 2012), the priority in the case of Yogyakarta are: 1. It is a must to undertake a full assessment of saujana natural, tangible & intangible cultural heritage and human resources although there are a lot of challenges and time consuming 2. Use integration data for public to provide participatory planning by authority. We have to make more & more promotion to them 3. We need a “conductor” to integrate those full assessment and participatory planning with many stakeholders 4. Develop mechanisms for the various coordination of the various activities between different actors is a must. 5. Saujana approach is HUL
