My research explores the intersections between communication, power, and social change in contemporary media environments. I am particularly interested in how digital communication infrastructures reshape democratic processes, social identities, and collective meaning-making.
A central strand of my work examines social media and activism, focusing on how networked platforms transform political participation, civic engagement, and the dynamics of public discourse. Closely related to this is my interest in journalism and democracy, where I investigate the shifting authority of news, the contestation of truth, and the role of media in structuring the public sphere.
Methodologically, my research draws on discourse analysis, discursive psychology, and content analysis to understand how realities, identities, and social norms are constructed through language, representation, and mediated interaction. I am especially concerned with the relationship between affect and subjectivity, analysing how emotions, relatability, and mediated visibility shape contemporary forms of selfhood and political expression.
Beyond digital communication, I engage with film and collective memory, exploring how media texts participate in the cultural production of history, identity, and national narratives. I also examine communication for sustainable development, addressing how communication practices influence social awareness, behavioural change, and policy imaginaries.
Across these domains, my research is informed by a strong commitment to critical perspectives on gender, inequality, and people with disabilities, with attention to representation, voice, and the politics of inclusion in mediated spaces. I am likewise invested in advancing discussions on digital literacy, particularly in relation to power, knowledge, and citizens’ capacities to navigate complex information ecologies.
Overall, my work situates communication as a constitutive force in social life, shaping how individuals, institutions, and publics negotiate meaning, authority, and social transformation.
