Dr. Elastria Widita acquired her dentist qualifications at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2009, while in the following year she got her Masters in Health Law at the Graduate School, UGM. In 2010, she trained as the young researcher for Global Oral Health in WHO Collaborating Centre (WHO-CC) in Niigata University, Niigata, Japan for one year. She joined Niigata longitudinal study, investigating the linkage between oral and systemic disease among Japanese elderly. In 2020, she got her PhD from The Graduate School of Medical and Dental Science at Niigata University, Niigata, Japan, investigating the effect of periodontal diseases on systemic health parameters among the Japanese elderly longitudinally. She has been working for the Faculty of Dentistry UGM since 2010, and currently belongs to the Department of Oral Medicine, lecturing for the Undergraduate Program, as well as the Postgraduate Program Faculty of Dentistry, UGM. She was the former Secretary of Dental Hygiene Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Dentistry, UGM. She works as clinician in Dental Hospital and currently, serves as the Head of Administration, General, and Human Resources Division in Dental Hospital, UGM.
Dr. Widita's major interest is in gerodontology, exploring the linkage between oral diseases and systemic diseases among elderly population that supports the implementation of common risk factor approach as well as in research in the field of oral medicine, preventive dentistry. She continues to explore the association between oral and systemic health among Indonesian elderly. Currently, she works with the Department of Preventive Dentistry and Dental Public Health UGM and Borrow Foundation to initiate a multidimensional oral health promotion program. Furthermore, she is actively involved in community empowerment programs to promote health among society. She is an active member of International Association of Dental Research, Asian Academy of Preventive Dentistry and Indonesian Society of Gerodontology. She published scientific papers in national journals as well as international journals. She serves as reviewer and editorial board of international journals. In 2021, she won AAPD Lion Awards for Preventive Dentistry and was awarded Second Prize. Moreover, she was awarded as Outstanding Lecturer, Category for Innovation of Education through e-learning: open for knowledge sharing (eLOK), Universitas Gadjah Mada. She has a good connection with international experts in the field of global oral health, preventive dentistry, and dental hygiene. Dr. Widita succeeded in bringing international collaboration for dental hygiene undergraduate programs and developed various international programs on global oral health related subjects.
She is also involved in the quality of healthcare and education systems. Dr. Widita was appointed as the lead team of Hospital Accreditation UGM and successfully led the team to gain a highest level of accreditation. She has joined the International Society for Quality of Healthcare (ISQua) and Fellowship Programme in 2022. She is also involved in the quality of education assurance system as Internal Auditor in UGM. Dr. Widita thrives participating in dental hygiene curriculum development in Indonesia, promoting quality assurance in the education process of Faculty Dentistry in UGM as well as ensuring the dental hospital quality and compliance in UGM. Moreover, Dr. Widita supports the development of the ethical research system in the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM and currently serves as the reviewer of The Research Ethics Committee in the Faculty of Dentistry- Dental Hospital, UGM. She is also a member of the Ethical and Law Committee in Dental Hospital as well as the Dental Profession Organization (MKEKG PDGI Pengwil DIY).
