Bachtiar Rivai was born in Medan on June 14, 1995, and completed his primary and high school education in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra. After high school, the author pursued his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Brawijaya University, Malang. The author was highly motivated to explore the vast aquatic resources, particularly in his home country, Indonesia. His journey began with his undergraduate research, focusing on nutraceutical products derived from Sargassum sp. for managing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Building on this foundation, the author collaborated with a professor from IPB University to develop and optimize carrageenan products from Euchema cottoni in West Sumbawa, which are used as additives in cosmetic products.
The author's passion for research has only intensified over time. He was compliting his master degree at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University. Here, he is specializing in the isolation and purification techniques of natural compounds, intending to apply them to aquatic samples. Additionally, the author is also involved in the development of the Aquatic Life Sciences journal, published by ETFLIN, which focuses on fisheries and marine science studies.
Through these endeavors, the author aims to contribute to the advancement of fisheries technology and the sustainable utilization of aquatic resources while also fostering academic discourse and knowledge dissemination through scholarly publications.
